Thrift Addict

Over spring break I finally had some “me” time to do some much needed spring shopping.  The first and only place I visited was, of course, my local thrift store.  Every time I walk into a thrift store I get so energized because it is like a treasure hunt.  You never know what unique pieces you will stumble across.

This trip, I had great luck finding both modern, newer pieces, as well as vintage pieces.  I have a special place in my heart for vintage items, so I am going to share with you some of the garments I purchased!

My first piece was a beautiful blue jacket with detailed, gold buttons.  I can tell the jacket is very old by looking at the outdated tag sewn inside, but it was so well made and taken care of that it is in perfect condition.  It is fully lined, but it is very light so it is a perfect jacket for the transition from the colder months into spring.

Next, I found a silk shirt with a pearl and jewel motif.  It stood out to me because I have seen many celebrities, as well as people on the street, sporting beautiful silk scarves with the same pattern idea.  Being at least thirty years old, this piece serves as proof that style is a continuous cycle that comes back around in due time.

The last top I found is also vintage and very on trend at the moment.  It is a sheer, cardigan-like shirt with no front closures.  When I came across it, I automatically pictured it over a bandeau top on a hot summer day.

My final thrift store find is this wonderful maroon-colored purse.  It comes with a long strap that allows it to be worn over your shoulder or, when tucked away, worn as a hip clutch. I love its simplicity, and I know it will be very versatile.

Check back next Monday to see how I chose to style these items!
