If you thought it was time to retire your high-low skirt you’ve worn all summer just because fall is on it’s way, think again! Hang on to your favorite summer staple pieces by experimenting with adding different elements to the look that aren’t so typical.

To balance out the sheer and breezy feel of the skirt, opt for a thicker, distressed top to give the outfit a look more appropriate for fall. The suede texture and clunky shape of the boots also help to offset the summer vibe and femininity of the skirt.

For a chilly day of classes, trade the boots for a comfortable pair of flats. Throw on a circle scarf and pair of patterned tights and your summer to fall look is complete.

It’s that time of year again to shake the sand out of your shoes and restore your closet with the essentials to withstand fall weather in Ohio. This week, Blitz is all about making the wardrobe transition between seasons a little easier by highlighting some trends from spring and styling them with a fall state of mind.

For easy transitioning, create a feminine tomboy look inspired by the versatility of the chambray shirt. Throughout the spring and summer, pair it with a skirt or throw it over a maxi as a layering piece. In the fall, it’s perfect for wearing underneath a chunky knit, or layering underneath a retro-style striped pullover, as shown here.

This cropped, boat-neck sweatshirt is perfect for showing off the collar and sleeves of the chambray.

Pairing the look with skinny jeans balances out the boxy silhouette of the sweatshirt and keep it tailored. The camel colored skinnies are perfect for fall and help to make the chambray button down and sweatshirt really pop.
