Smart Spending
With the beginning of a new semester there is one thing that is prominent on a fashion-lover’s mind: back to school shopping.
It is hard to resist the temptation to dig into one’s wallet at the site of every seemingly great deal listed in the storefronts at the mall at this time of the year, especially with a paycheck in your pocket.
But in the spirit of making sure hard-earned money made this summer lasts until May, there are several ways to make sure you don’t break the bank on a fresh wardrobe for fall.
You Already Own a Ton of Clothes
Remember this before you head to the mall with the notion to buy everything pictured in the September issue of Vogue. Stick to buying a few key pieces, maybe a pair of combat boots or orange jeggings, and then load up on fabulous neon accessories to make last year’s fall pieces just as trendy for this season.
Save While You Shop
Ebates.com is my go-to website for steals and deals. It costs nothing to join and offers a great cash back program on top of exclusive coupons. It’s as simple as logging into the site, searching for the website that you want and clicking a button. Shop as usual, and then the savings are on their way. Every few months you will receive your “Big Fat Check” with your cash back, which is always a welcomed treat (and excuse to go shop some more). I never shop online without going through Ebates since I started using it.
People Will Pay
Your old clothes are another’s new fashion find. The quickest way to make money is to go through that pile of clothes, shoes and accessories that you haven’t touched in a year and head to your nearest resale shop. Nothing like making a quick 40 bucks on something you will never wear again, no matter how many times you tell yourself “Well maybe I can wear it for this…”
Shop smart this year, and your checking account will rejoice in having more than $20 in it come finals week this spring.
