Nail Trend: Sparkling Storms
After all of the thunderstorms this past summer, you may be ready to put away your raincoat and umbrella for good, but there are more storms forecasted for Fall 2012 that won’t leave you soaked. Stormy nail colors are trending this fall with deep navy blues and foggy greys demanding notice.
Metallic finishes and sparkling topcoats add emphasis and give beauty buffs an opportunity to incorporate some of the season’s nail art trends. A twist on the traditional French manicure, the half moon manicure offers an easy way to incorporate two colors. The half moon, also known as the reverse French manicure, serves as an excellent option for those girls on the go. As your nails grow out you can simply add a quick swipe of color to the base of your nail.
For the more ambitious beauty buff, the ombre trend remains a prominent staple. Although more time consuming than the half moon, ombre nails show off the dark, stormy colors of fall in a picturesque manner. Creating the image of a stormy sky, dark navy fades to an eerie grey. You can create an ombre effect on each individual nail or use your entire hand painting each nail a solid color from within the same hue.
The glittery topcoats brighten up the look, adding a flash of glamour. Glitter is an excellent way to not only alter the look of the manicure, but to disguise any imperfections in the polish.
So the next time it storms, make sure to peer out from under that umbrella, and gather some inspiration for your next manicure!
