I recently purchased a pair of to-die-for, dip-dye cognac riding boots. I’m currently obsessing over them while they sit in the back of my closet because this buy has been long awaited.

I have looking for a pair of boots like this for a while. There was only one thing separating me from buying these years ago – big dancer calves.

Now with a year without standing on my toes in pointe class successfully shrinking my style-compromising muscles, I am eagerly awaiting the day to wear these bad boys (photo courtesy of Instagram Valencia).

So, when is the golden day when the sandals are put away and cute boots come out to grace the Esplanade?

After consulting the fashion Bibles (Vogue, Harper’s BAZAAR, WWD), the vague answer of “weather determined” leaves those of us dying for fall fashion to fend for ourselves against unpredictable Ohio weather.

While the weather is still warmer, stick to ankle booties to get your fill and anxiously anticipate the end of September to slip on taller boots. This way you avoid looking out of place in a sea of flip-flops, and more importantly, don’t get too hot. No need to ruin new boots with sweaty feet.
