Style on the street — Puerto Rico

Written by Jessica Smith. Posted in Accessories

While vacationing in Puerto Rico last weekend, I stumbled upon many fashion-
conscious men. Many American men these days like to sport hoodies, baseball
caps and graphic tees. They seem to put minimal effort into their everyday look and
throw fashion out the window. Little do they know, a simple couple of additions to his
wardrobe will make more heads turn.

Whenever traveling to a new country or city, I pay close attention to not only the way women are dressed, but also the way in which the men put themselves together. I spotted Eduardo in the El San Juan Resort lobby wearing an Armani button up with white denim jeans and a pair of grey velvet designer loafers.

I like how Eduardo’s button up has a printed pattern detailing the inner collar and sleeve cuffs. White pants really make the detailing on this dress shirt pop!

This look is very clean and sophisticated, yet casual-looking and effortless. It’s also great to see men play with unusual colors! So tell your boyfriend to switch out his dark, denim trousers for a pair of white ones like Eduardo’s. They add instant class.

A colorful top makes this look eye-catching and playful. So jump off the bandwagon and join the initiative to better the wardrobe of American men nationwide!

I found Meghan Stonebrook strutting through campus in one of this season’s hottest trends. This menswear-inspired look showed strong on the Autumn/ Winter 2011-12 runways everywhere from Yves Saint Laurent to Dolce & Gabbana.

Stonebrook is sporting this boyish look with a white button-up shirt from H&M and loose fitting denim jeans from Nordstrom. For a more feminine twist, she added her own silk cheetah print scarf around her neck. She also accessorized with a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and a vintage clutch.

To complete this polished look, Stonebrook is rocking a pair of creme oxfords.

Try this look yourself by pairing your favorite boyfriend jeans with a tailed suit jacket and heels or even throwing on an oversized button up with some suspenders. Adding your own accessories to this look is important, allowing your personality to show.

Don’t be afraid to throw on a cute bowler hat or even a funky bowtie. There is no wrong way to try out this trend. As for makeup, go with a bare face and neutral tones. Bold and full eyebrows finish this look off, giving it a strong, groomed feel.

So go ahead Fashionistas, give this look a shot! You’ll be surprised by how many pieces in your wardrobe are highly menswear inspired.
