70th Annual Golden Globes Anne Hathaway

The 70th Golden Globe Awards took place on Jan. 13, 2013. Comedic duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the event and looked stunning in their gowns. Tina sported a sparkling blue dress that hugged her figure and Amy went for a burgundy red dress with a plunging neckline and belt.

Jessica Chastain’s light blue, open-back Calvin Klein gown was definitely 70th Annual Golden Globesone of my favorite looks. The color worked perfectly with her red hair. It was simply elegant. She won an award for best actress in “Zero Dark Thirty”, which I still have yet to see.

I always look forward to seeing Anne Hathaway’s red carpet choices. Her progression from starring in “The Princess Diaries” to playing Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises” to now winning a Golden Globe for her performance in “Les Misérables” is remarkable. For this 70th Annual Golden Globesyear’s Golden Globe Awards, she wore a crisp white Chanel dress that showed of her skinny frame. Not only did she look great on the carpet, but her performance in “Les Misérables” was truly incredible. The cast of “Les Misérables” matched accordingly in black and white ensembles.

Become a Fashion Insider

Most people nowadays have some sort of smart device with Wi-Fi and application technology. Many companies work to keep up with technological advances by developing cohesive apps for their products. An example of this in the fashion world is apps created to go along with the magazine-reading experience. I love reading Teen Vogue, so when I saw they had developed an app to coincide with magazine content I downloaded it right away.

The Teen Vogue insider app is the perfect extension to the typical magazine-reading experience. You can unlock teenvogueexclusive content about the current cover star and go behind the scenes on their shoot. You can create a personal profile and submit contest entries every time you check out new content, communicate with your friends and bookmark your favorites. One of the coolest parts of the app is the special icon-catching camera capability. As you flip through your Teen Vogue, find the Insider icon, snap a picture through the app, and it will take you to exclusive, extended content. This includes information about products, extra interview material and special videos. Included in the app is also a shopping section where you can check out new products, find stores and even get exclusive Teen Vogue deals!

After falling in love with this app, I was curious to see if any other 17insidermagazines had something similar. Seventeen’s 17 insiders is another great app. This one gives users the ability to take a picture of any article of clothing in the magazine then directs them toward places to purchase it. This is amazing because the second you see something you like, you can figure out how to get your hands on it. Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar also have apps with similar capabilities.

Expanding your reading into these interactive apps is a great way to learn more about what is going on in the fashion industry. I encourage you to try one for your favorite magazine and see how much fun it can be.
