Rock A Dress

Written by Asia Jenkins. Posted in Accessories

With the good weather rolling in and out it will not be long now until it’s sunshine all the time, and I, for one, cannot wait. To finally be able to say goodbye to my drab hoodies and jeans and hello to shorts and dresses will be a highlight to the upcoming summer break. But what I’m most looking forward to is the ease and efficiency of a summer dress. They’re cute and easy to grab and throw on in the morning without looking like you just rolled out of bed and grabbed the first piece of clothing you could find.

LOOK ONE

A floral print is always the way to go when it comes to a spring and summer time dress. Floral looks good on everyone, it’s just a matter of finding the right print size and color for you. Floral dresses can be found at any store and having multiple floral pieces in your wardrobe can help you put some pep in your spring look. They have the added touch of giving you that feminine look without you having to try too hard.

LOOK TWO

Another way to go is to find a dress with a pop of color. With the sun making more and more appearances, bright colors aren’t as blinding to the eye as they were in the winter months. In fact, a nice bright color can help to make you feel better throughout the day while of course making you look good. Now I’m not saying everyone should go out and buy a neon dress, but if that’s the look for you, go for it! A bright canary yellow dress can get the job done just as well.

LOOK THREE

Although not technically a dress, a romper is a great summer time “dress.” They’re just as quick and easy to slip into as a dress and without the fear of your skirt possibly flying up in a breeze. Rompers always have great patterns and prints for you to work with, so you can find a style that work for you. Whether you’ve tried them before or not I would highly suggest you start investing in a few from some of your favorite stores.

It’s time to ditch the cardigans and jackets and break out those sleeveless tops we’ve all been longing to wear. I decided to pair this gorgeous beaded top with a contrasting pair of white skinny jeans and tan gladiator sandals to allow the red detailing of the top to really pop. I kept the accessories simple and opted for a few bangles and a simple gold bracelet to add some subtle sparkle to the springtime look.

This ‘Free People’ dress is one piece to invest in to transition you from a spring to summer with a laid-back vibe. It has a loose, flowing fit, so I chose a vibrant belt to cinch in the waist and add a bright pop of a color. These boots can be worn nearly all seasons because they look great with jeans or with a light summer dress. Their studded detail gives this feminine outfit more edge and ties in the gold accessories.

This beaded taupe top is the perfect option for spring. With a scalloped neckline, the piece is feminine yet edgy with the pewter beading. The sleek black skirt adds volume to the overall look and balances out the body conscious top. Simple jewelry such as these stacked leather bracelets are all that is needed since the top is embellished. Metallic sandals complete the look and bring out the beading in the shirt.
