Boots be gone with (hopefully) all that snow. Spring is the time to show off some fancy foot work with all sorts of new styles, colors and types of new kicks. A favorite spring shoe of mine is the loafer. They resemble a more classic, affordable Sperry that not every lady on campus has. Loafers aren’t just for grannies. With cool new updates like studs, tassels, and even cat faces there’s not doubt about it that loafers have taken a turn for the better.

Thrift stores have an abundance of quirky pairs, many brand new and never worn. It never hurts to check out the local Stow Goodwill or Unique Thrift in Akron for Hidden gems ♥

I know that UGGs are pretty popular among many of us, but after a few years of experience, it is safe to say they aren’t exactly winter proof. I bought a pair of black UGGs, and they lasted me exactly one winter. The salt eats through the leather so easily, and I simply do not have time to run to Nordstrom’s repair shop and waste more money. If you are going to invest in a pair of UGGs, make sure to wear them outside when the weather isn’t wet! Here are some boots to keep your feet dry and toes happy.

This is the first year that I invested in a pair of waterproof snow boots. I can’t believe that this was my first year, but it was definitely worth it. I bought a pair of Merrell Barefoot Frost Glove shoes in the port royale color for $125. I absolutely love them and would recommend them to anyone who wants a pair of shoes that are comfortable yet practical.

I also bought another pair of winter boots last year. This pair isn’t as practical, but it is fashionable. These Anne Klein wedge winter boots look nice but aren’t as comfortable and waterproof as my Merrells. I bought this pair at Nordstrom Rack for about $15. These stylish, black wedges are nice to have when I need to dress up my outfit when going out in the cold.

So what pair will you get this season? I would recommend going through this short checklist in order to make use of your winter shoes for more than one season. Make sure to look for a pair of shoes that are:

1. Waterproof
2. Warm
3. Comfortable
4. Durable
5. Beautiful

I am a shoe fanatic, and it almost appalls me at the amount of shoes I own. Here are a few syles that can keep your toes warm and protected.

Moccasins are in. We have all seen at least someone wearing these suede shoes powwowing through the streets. I fell in love with Vans Mohikan moccasins in the camel color. I bought them a few months ago for $60, but they’re on sale for $51.99 now on Zappos! One of the most popular moccasin brands are Minnetonka Moccasins, which usually sell for around $40.

High top sneakers have always been my obsession. In high school I bought about 15 pairs of high tops (it was an unhealthy obsession), but luckily I started wearing them all again. Last
year I bought these beautiful dark brown Timberland boots. Timberland’s prices range from $50 to $100 but don’t have the most flattering styles. They are unfortunately out of season now, but keep in mind to get a pair of water-resistant shoes that are comfortable, especially before the fall/winter season approaching (Timberland.com).

And now my favorite high-top sneaker brand: Nike. Nike shoes
are very durable and fashionable. These Nike dunks were bought 5 years ago and are still in mint condition. Dunks usually cost around $100 but there are other styles like Court Forces as well as fabulous running shoes (Nike.com).

Keep your feet comfy and ready for the cold weather, but don’t forget to strut with style.
