Ann Yee

Last year I had theIMG_1937 opportunity to speak with Ann Yee. I interned at a shoe company that she borrowed from for her Spring 2013 fashion show, which took place on top of a roof in New York City. Her garments flowed in the wind and they seemed to sparkle in the bright sun. Ann Yee is definitely an up and coming designer, and you should keep your eye on her. After her NYC studio burned down, she spent a lot of time in the Pacific Northwest where she was greatly inspired by the weather and the way it affects the ocean. Inspiration also stemmed from tangled ropes on a pier and the color scheme definitely comes from studying the shoreline. Colors range from sea foam blue to textured seaweed green. The garments flow so effortlessly, they are fluid like water. I am excited to see what Ann Yee has in store for the future.

MTV Movie Awards Fashion

Written by Alexa Krynicki. Posted in Fashion Event

Even though it is not the most glamorous award show, there is something about the garments that celebrities wear on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. Celebs get to dress more casual, and therefore their styles can be easily replicated at reasonable prices. Some of the garments that they even personally wear are within an average budget. This year’s popular color? Definitely white. Style icon and model, Klaire Kloss sported a white ensemble by Cushnie Et Ochs, which was cut out around her midriff, making me wish I had her killer abs. Other stars like Ke$ha, Ariana Grande and Bella Thorne were also dressed in white. Some big names were also adorning hues of blue. Brittany Snow wore a navy blue Lela Rose dress and Amanda Seyfried sported a Three Floor dress, which had an interesting pattern. Emma Watson wore a dress by Maxime Simoens, which hugged her on top then opened like a short ball gown from her waist to knees. The dress was cut out above her chest. Cutouts were definitely a huge trend on the red carpet, as well as on recent runways. Thanks to Kate Middleton, lace was also popular on the red carpet. Stars like Selena Gomez, Amanda Seyfried, and Ke$ha all rocked the trend.
