For those of you who have never heard of Coachella, it is an annual three-day music and arts festival that takes place in Indio, California. The event features many different music genres including indie, rock, hip-hop and many more. This festival is not just about the music but it’s also about the clothing! Looking hip and staying cool is the most important thing while attending this festival, which is usually scorching hot. Going to this festival is like attending a fashion show from the 1960s. Tons of vintage, bohemian and edgy looks are seen everywhere. This year Coachella is April 12 to 14 and the 19 to 21. There have been many trends spotted this year that anyone could try in their own wardrobe to achieve the hip, artsy look.

Crop Tops

These midriff baring tops are one of the hottest looks seen at Coachella. They are perfect for the high temperatures and long days. Some of these tops are simple T-shirt styles and others are patterned or feature lace or fringe. These crops tops are mostly seen with high-wasted denim or flowy skirts.

Ankle Boots

From studs to fringe, ankle boots are the shoe of choice while attending this festival. Some of these boots have small heels, and some lace all the way up. A popular designer that is seen is Steve Madden because of his specialty in boots. These boots are worn with anything from long skirts to shorts.

Maxi Dresses and Skirts

These Bohemian pieces are very popular at the festival. From bold prints to sheer lace, there are so many options to choose from. These dresses/skirts are usually worn with denim vests or jackets. Belts and cross-body bags are a few accessories paired with the maxi.

Accessories

Accessories are the most unique and original things at the festival, and they really are what makes the outfit. Long necklaces, braided bracelets, feather earrings and circle framed sunglasses are just a few key accessories that are seen. Other items like headbands, bags and rings are also huge items that add to the hippy esque look that is seen at Coachella.

With buzz about Coachella fashion taking over all major fashion publications this week, it’s time to start thinking about your own concert season wardrobe. The first concert on the Megaticket at Blossom Music Center is only six weeks away. What’s going to separate your outfit from the rest of the country-lovin’ tailgaters?

The fashion scene at Blossom is typically absent. Fields are filled with girls all sporting Daisy Dukes, cheap cowboy boots, plaid shirts and camouflage hats that lead to the perfect opportunity to step above the rest.

The biggest downfall with the above outfit is that it doesn’t fit the body type of 99 percent of the people who try to pull it off. Fashion is more about knowing how to dress your body than how to pick out anything that looks good on a hanger.  Keep this in mind before reaching for the Blossom “uniform.” Instead, channel “southern charm” instead of “hillbilly chic” when preparing to somehow catch Tim McGraw’s eyes all the way up on the lawn. We can dream, right?

Keep it casual but with an obvious hint of individuality. While cutoffs are a staple, go for high waisted or tie dye or the obvious ‘Merica choice, with a tucked-in tank and woven fedora. A sleeveless sundress can be the perfect choice for those feeling a little more Taylor Swift circa 2007. Keep your purse small. A cross-body will keep your hands free and your bag off the ground while you dance and sing along. An oversized knit pullover can give you a beach-y feel when the night gets chilly. And while flip-flops are tempting, remember that Blossom is a mess of dirt and grass, and those things will not last when it turns to mud.
