There is no better way to add to an outfit than to use accessories. It is a cheap way to add character and personal style to one’s wardrobe. In the shoe world, pointy toes are evident and gladiators are trying to make a comeback. Blocked heels are also trending. Thick metal, links and gypsy-inspired jewelry were popular trends on the Spring 2013 runways. Statement tote bags were featured in shows by Dior, Miu Miu, Prada and The Row, just to name a few. Not only are we seeing black and white clothing, but these contrasting colors are also trending in the accessories world. Clear, see-through accessories are also prominent.

My favorite finds

I love shopping. I mean I really love shopping. I love buying things, I love going to the stores and I really love brining those purchases home.

Sometimes I buy useful things like black pants, jeans and tights. Other times I buy completely ridiculous things like say a long sleeve, red, beaded dress that may weigh five pounds. (I mean what girl doesn’t have one of those hanging her closet?)

But then there are the rare occasions when I just happen to pick something up and buy it because its pretty inexpensive and looks cute in the store. These purchases are the best ones. At first, I like them and then the more I wear them the more I love them. I would almost call them magical purchases.

They say when you buy something you should figure out the cost per wear, that way you will get your money’s worth of that item. Well a few items in my closet are basically paying me now for the amount of times I wear them!

These inexpensive items are now my wardrobe staples:

1)     The sweater– OK, technically my sister found this sweater but I stole it from her. It was only 50 cents at a thrift store. It’s super soft and the best part is … it’s Christian Dior!

2)     The skirt– The skirt was only $12.50 at Forever 21, and I have had it for three years. It just a basic blue navy skirt that goes with everything and always comes in handy.

Nail your nail color

Having a girl’s night soon? While going about your normal gossip, I am sure your nails will be getting some attention too. Of course we all know the basic rule of nail colors for the fall and winter season- always wear dark shades. But, what color palette will we be playing with this fall?

The nudes from the spring and summer will be carrying over with some darker shades of brown and gray. With the many deep shades of apparel used in the fall, a neutral nail shade is one of the smartest choices when playing it safe. A favorite to many is Sand Tropez by Essie.

To add to the upcoming trend of military greens seen on the runway, many companies are now selling a wonderful array of like greens. My absolute favorite is a metallic olive green by a newly popular brand, Butter London.

Also carrying over from summer are the jewel tone blues. Look like royalty with the sophistication of this Blue Denim polish by Dior.

Naturally, the classic red has to make some sort of appearance. This season we are sure to be seeing many colors in the burgundy family. MAC Cosmetics just came out with this beautiful color named Vintage Vamp.

Next time you reach for that nail polish color, make sure to keep in mind the season change with the exciting new color palette.
