When to save, spend or look in your BFF’s closet

GUYS

GRAPHIC TEES

Batman, Superman, whatever-man you wear, they’re not worth the splurge. Though high-price stores such as Buckle and Metropark carry graphic tees, you shouldn’t spend that much money on them. Larger department stores such as Target have the same product at the same quality for a fraction of the price.

WATCHES

A nice watch can dress up any shirt and add sophistication to your entire outfit. Try buying a watch face that can interchange bands so that you’re not limited to one style or even one color.

TIES

Guys don’t share much, but this is one accessory that can be easily interchanged. Especially since men’s fashion has evolved to support the mixing of patterned shirts with contrasting ties, borrowing is even sweeter because it provides an expansive amount of options.

The heat broke in Kent over Labor Day weekend, and transitional summer-to-fall weather is on the horizon and well on its way in. As the thermometer begins to drop, don’t be afraid to layer your playful summer favorites with cozy fall staples.

This tribal inspired Glam dress from NOTO provides the perfect splash of color underneath an oversized Diesel sweater from Sanity. Keeping up with the tribal motif (a trend seen everywhere on the fall runways), pair the look with neutral, earthy accessories.

Chocolate thigh-high Chinese Laundry boots provide just enough leg coverage, and the braided suede belt cinches all extra fabric in for a shapelier silhouette. Topped with a large leaf pendant necklace and fringe shoulder bag by Let Them Eat Cake, the overall look is youthful and comfortable — perfect for running errands, shopping with friends or heading off to class.

Weekend look

Weekends are all about letting loose and letting your sassier side come out and play. Pair this unexpectedly sweet leather H&M skirt with menswear inspired pieces and a straw fedora to amp up the funky factor.

On the Fall 2011 runways, lace made its grand appearance in countless designer collections, proving itself as a mainstay in your fall wardrobe. The lace detailing in this chambray utilitarian blouse adds textural interest but maintains the look’s overall femininity.

Continuing the theme are black patent oxfords. These shoes are hands down the perfect weekend footwear because, although we don’t often admit it, it’s not always so easy to discover the sweet spot where style meets comfort. Top off the look with a classic rose gold watch and stylish statement necklace for a look that is cool, casual and ready to play.
