It’s Raining Men: Award Show Trends

Written by Alex. Posted in Trends

Almost too often, females are concerned with what other females are wearing. In order to mix things up a bit, I decided to give my input on the latest men’s fashion of the 2012 SAG Awards. As always, heartthrobs such as Brad Pitt, John Krasinski and George Clooney shined in their own way on the red carpet. To emphasize their good looks and poise, I will certainly comment on their appearances and more!

Brad Pitt- Babe in Balenciaga

Voted as the hottest SAG couple with his companion Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt’s long, blonde hair and tidy ensemble won him a spot in the best dressed category of the night.

Nominated for his role in “Moneyball,” Brad Pitt looked pristine even amongst those with more conservative men’s hairstyles.

Who else can pull off a designer suit and surfer hair? The Brad Pitt, of course.

John Krasinksi- Pretty Boy in Prada

Alongside the beautiful Emily Blunt, John chose to sport a navy blue Prada suit with “razor-thin” satin detail.

I love the touch of color that John chose to wear instead of the typical black-and-

white tux look.

I give him more credit for wearing (what seems to be) a solid navy tie as well. Swoon!

George Clooney- Admirer in Armani

With a black and white combination and a simple black tie, George handsomely strutted his stuff with sheer confidence among the older men at the SAG Awards.

Most of my attention was veered from girlfriend Stacy Keibler when I noticed his effortless black tux.

George was up for the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Leading Role award for his work in “The Descendants.”

George, as always, has to be ranked as one of the best dressed male nominees over 40 of the night!

How often do you pay attention to menswear? I encourage you to take it just as seriously as women’s award show attire. I love watching famous couples look fabulous together. As a Kent State alum, you may just be getting “red carpet ready” in the near future!

Editor’s pick — SAG Awards fashion

Written by Lindsy Neer. Posted in Editor's Pick

Have something you think deserves a shout out on Editor’s Pick? Leave it in the comments section, then check back next week to see if it made the cut!

Awards show season is one of my favorite times of year. Not only do my favorite actors and actresses get recognized for their amazing work, but I get to experience the red carpet through their fashion.

Last night was the 18th annual SAG Awards. While I didn’t get to watch the entire show, I did catch up on my red carpet fashion afterward. Here are some of my favorites of the night:

Viola Davis in Marchesa

First off, “The Help” star Viola Davis has a near perfect body. This cream gown with gold embroidered bodice shows off her glowing skin and makes her look like a goddess.

She mixed it up with the hair, too, and ditched her usual straight locks for a curly look.

Michelle Williams in Valentino

The “My Week with Marilyn” star always brings effortless class to her outfits, and it was the same for with the beautiful lace one-shouldered dress.

I’m usually not a fan of perfectly matching your shoes to your dress, but she offsets it well with gold jewelry and a black clutch.

Ariel Winter in Collette Dinnigan

“Modern Family” star shined in this amazing tea-length dress. (I wish I had been this fashionable at age 14.) I think she looks immensely grown up, without it being “too mature” of a look for her.

My favorite part? The glittery Miu Miu shoes!

Jayma Mays in Reem Acra

Mays left behind her shy “Glee” character in this glittery ensemble. Not one to usually be too edgy, she was (obviously) one of my favorite looks of the night.

It’s so different from how I’m used to seeing her on the show, and the dress fits her beyond perfectly.

I feel like she could’ve done something a little more glamourous with her hair, though.

What were your favorite looks of the night?
