With so many options available this season, finding a great maxi isn’t a challenge. Look no further than Hudson’s ar2 Boutique!

Missy’s pick:

Maxi dresses have established themselves as a summer staple, but due to the abundance of fabric that accompanies a maxi dress, they become hard to layer.

A fun way to add extra emphasis to your maxi is to layer it with a tank over top such as this sheer tank from ar2 in Hudson.

A sheer tank provides a lightweight layer allowing for extra style without escalating your body temperature. It also displays, rather than hides, the fun vibrant print of this Haute Hippie dress underneath. Also, you have already made the commitment to stand out as a style maven by selecting to wear a maxi, so why not go with a fun color or a bold print? It’s a decision you won’t regret!

Karen’s pick:

The organic variations in tonality found in snakeskin prints are what regularly attract me toward them. Worn correctly, their neutrality makes them an attention-grabbing, multidimensional base for any ensemble, but that only skims the surface of what makes this skirt a standout.

When looking for a maxi this season, it’s important to always gravitate towards pieces that feature excellent fabric. With that in mind, remember to never discount the significance of a unique silhouette!

This Haute Hippie version features a trumpeted skirt, a rare yet flattering alternative to the basic straight or A-line styles we’ve been accustomed to seeing in seasons past.

Paired with an Equipment signature blouse in one of spring’s most coveted hues, the look is bold, yet balanced. The classic cut of the blouse enhances the maxi’s distinctive features, but still pops in vibrant tangerine.

Finished with a few of your favorite accessories, a sophisticated rendition like this one will surely speak for itself.

Ashley’s pick:

Playing off the cool, laid-back appearance of maxi skirts and dresses, this week I wanted to keep that vibe consistent by incorporating a natural color palette.

The earth tone colors are flattering on everyone while being understated and chic. Ditching a belt and opting for tying the shirt up is cohesive with the overall relaxed look.

To give an unexpected pop of flair, I chose the cheetah Jeffrey Campbell platforms to elongate the silhouette and make for a more dynamic outfit.

For an ensemble more class appropriate, swap out the chunky heels for flats and you’re sure to look effortlessly stylish.

Fashion Blitz — Favorite Rock the Runway looks

Karen’s pick

While most looks featured sleek solid fabrics Saturday, it was this jumpsuit with a painterly print that immediately caught my eye the instant it hit the runway.

Not only did the designer take a risk with her fabric choice, but she cleverly incorporated one of the chicest trends we saw this past February during London Fashion Week.

The painterly print with sheer accents and tuxedo detailing is definitely futuristic, but at the same time the look could be completely reinterpreted and reworked to fit your everyday life.

Just throw on a blazer and break things up with a simple black belt, and the look is instantly brought back down to earth.

This look is from the winning collection Intergalactic Atlantis, a collection boasting the epitome of fine craftsmanship and an eye for detail.

The ruffles on the top of this bustier are delicate and a perfect compliment to the sheer panel running down the side.

The scales on the back of this garment also enhance the garment’s detailing as well as promote the collection’s theme.

Being a lover of accessories, however, I couldn’t help but notice what really enhanced this look overall: the shoes. The wedged heel is painted to look like nebula!

In addition, the dark and jewel tone colors in this garment create an ominous feeling that supports the Atlantis theme and its connection to the galaxy.

I particularly favored this look because of the cropped top and airy fabric that balances out the otherwise clean and structured lines of the garments.

The color scheme and choice of sleek and lustrous fabric represents the celestial theme well.

The makeup and jewelry really complemented the entire look, giving off a futuristic vibe synonymous with the “unknown.”

Fashion Blitz — Beyond your basic denim

Written by admin. Posted in The Blitz

Ashley’s pick

No matter what time of the year, you can’t go wrong with throwing on a classic denim button down.

The shirt for my denim inspired look this week is a twist on the classic, with cut out and color blocking accents.

Both trends are huge for spring, yet it is still simple enough to be worn once the trend has come and gone. The shorts are also evident of spring/summer 2012′s trends, showcasing the widely popular pastel hues and floral pattern.

I like the busy pattern of the shorts paired with the structural and simple detailing on the shirt to balance out the outfit. A pop of color in the belt helps the light pink color in the shorts stand out a bit more and also to add more dimension to the outfit.

The strappy heels are consistent with the overall girl look of the outfit, but for cooler temperatures opt for booties and a pair of sheer tights instead. Whatever the weather, this look is sure to look fun and flirty.

Denim shorts may not seem all that out of the ordinary, but what makes this pair unique is the fact that it’s chambray construction gives them a drape and ease that are more difficult to achieve with a typical twill weave.

The advantage? These shorts are perfect for any girl looking for something comfortable and casual, but still remarkably stylish and put-together.

A look like this is an ideal choice for brunch with friends, or even running errands if you switch out the heels for a pair of flat lace-ups.

Overall, this laid back ensemble declares that even dressing for comfort can look sophisticated and chic when you pair together the right pieces.

Missy’s pick

Take a look at this dress and tell me that it doesn’t falsify the phrase “basic denim.” This Gentle Fawn dress, which can be found at Noto in Akron, defines what it is like to be subtly sexy.

From the front, the simple crew neck of this garment is playful but simple. From the back, however, the caged detailing, which frames the wearer’s shoulders and back, is intriguing and adorable.

To further heighten the appeal of the back of this look, I chose to turn the charm of the necklace toward the back as to contribute to the main focus.

I selected shoes that added a fun and vibrant pop of color to the ensemble; however, I wanted to keep the style of the shoe simple since the dress does all of the talking.
