Ashley’s pick:

Some may think bright green pants are a splurge and unpractical, but they’re actually very wearable and easy to coordinate into different ensembles as long as you have a little creativity.

The outfit I styled this week is bold from head to toe. I wanted the green pants to be the center of focus, so I kept the rest of the palette strictly black and white.

The striped top over the polka dot blouse keeps a black and white combination interesting and not so predictable. I added the oversize blazer to complete the look and for some additional warmth.

The bright colored pants make a big statement without trying too hard. They’re also a fit flattering for nearly all body types and at a price point that is budget-friendly.

I finished off the look with some chunky suede wedges that compliment the other bold pieces.

As featured in the first Fashion Blitz of the semester, one of my “Fashion Resolutions” for 2012 was to wear neon accessories whenever I felt like my outfit lacked pizzazz.

I created this resolution to add an electrifying depth to a mundane ensemble because the nature of neon is loud and eye-catching. However, after looking at the jewelry selection in The Works on Main Street in downtown Kent, I now realize that any unique pieces of jewelry can be eye catching, regardless of color.

Take the assortment featured here, for example: All of the bangles, bracelets, rings and earrings featured are silver with black accents.

Typically this color combination would sound uninspiring, but upon seeing the shapes and intricate detailing of each of these pieces, one can’t help but be enthralled.
